The Humboldt County culture is an aromatic, vinegary sourdough, much like the famous San Francisco cultures.  It is very active and vigorous, and requires no additional commercial yeast for leavening.

The Columbia River Settlers culture has a rich, buttery aroma.  It is very active and vigorous, and requires no additional commercial yeast for leavening.

The Boulangerie Parisienne (Parisian Bakery) Culture combines the best features of both the Humboldt and the Columbia River cultures, with both an aggressive and aromatic vinegary aroma, in addition to a rich buttery, almost cheesy aroma, reminiscent of sour cream. This too is a very active and vigorous culture, and requires no additional commercial yeast for leavening.

Our first combination item includes any two cultures. Choose among the Humboldt County, Columbia River Settlers, or the Boulangerie Parisienne culture. Or you may choose to double up on your order of any single culture.

Our second combination item includes any three cultures. Choose among the Humboldt County, Columbia River Settlers, or the Boulangerie Parisienne culture. Or you may choose multiple packets of any of our cultures, to total three packets.

All five items come with instructions for activation, and basic recipes.
